Emergency Procedures for Spills - Reporting

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR SPILLS - REPORTING
SMALL SPILLS (<1L within designated area)LARGE OR TOXIC SPILLS
Alert Others – notify people in the immediate area
Evaluate your PPE – gear up if needed (lab coat, splash goggles, appropriate gloves)
Confine spill with absorbent
Clean up and dispose according the waste rules in the area.

All incidents must be reported to the Laboratory Manager.

Stop all work in the immediate area and evacuate
Restrict access to the area
Contact Emergency services 911 (internal phone) or 630-252-1911 from any other phone
Large and Toxic Spills Reporting and Notification

Once the spill is contained and the area secured, you must notify:
